Events & Experiences

The Nicholas Colby Fund® events & experiences seen on this website and our Facebook page are our focus areas. We also collaborate with local, regional, and national organizations to further generate positive impacts on what we call Helping Children Be Children®. To support research discovering new therapies, better treatments, and finding cures for blood cancers, the Nicholas Colby Fund® collaborates with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and speaks at a variety of their events and other organizations’ events.

2015 Recipient of Nonprofit Board Leader Award from CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA Insurer. Lamont Gilbert received this award for exceptional commitment, service, creativity, cooperation, and leadership. It was stated that he actively participates on a board of a nonprofit organization heightening awareness about his nonprofit, and engaging other AAA employees to get involved.

2014 Recipient of the American Red Cross – Act of Kindness and Philanthropy Hero Award. Lamont and Sheila Gilbert received this award for “Extraordinary acts of service and compassion serving children and their families. An inspiration to those in their community! And as we move forward in our lives, we are reminded that acts of heroism, thoughtfulness, and kindness still occur.”

2014 Recipient of the Community Health Charities of California – Volunteer Leadership Award. Lamont Gilbert received this award for his “inspirational speeches generating action by individuals and companies that help make the lives of people better.”

2008 Recipient of a 22nd Annual National Philanthropy Day Award. "The award is recognition for your creation and on-going commitment to the Nicholas Colby Fund® in loving memory of your son. By Helping Children Be Children® you have created thousands of lasting childhood memories that uplift the spirit of a child and bring smiles to the family of the child. As an honoree, you are being featured in the event program and acknowledged in the San Francisco Business Times along with this year's premiere honoree the California Academy of Sciences." The motto of the National Philanthropy Day awards is "Change The World With A Giving Heart."

2008 Recipient of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - Light the Night inaugural Inspiration Award. "The Nicholas Colby Fund® is receiving this award for all the wonderful work you do for the cause!"
